EyeCare4Kids Providing Valuable Vision Screening Services to Refugee Families in Utah

EyeCare4Kids is dedicated to ensuring that even the most vulnerable members of the community have access to essential vision care. On August 1st, the organization partnered with students and doctors from Rocky Mountain University (including Dr. Court Wilkins) for a special event aimed at serving Utah Valley refugees in Provo. SEE-MORE, Eyecare4Kids Mobile Clinic was the centerpiece of this initiative, where over 65 eye exams were conducted, and 60 pairs of glasses were provided to those in need. The collaboration was a testament to the power of community and the shared mission of helping others.

Just a few days later, on August 6th, EyeCare4Kids teamed up with Utah Refugee Connection for their refugee back-to-school night event in Salt Lake City. This partnership allowed the organization to reach an even broader audience, screening a remarkable 138 people in a single evening and making appointments for those that needed further care during our mobile clinic on August 8th. Rocky Mountain University joined us again later that week during our mobile clinic to provide 33 eye exams and eyeglasses. These events were filled with a sense of purpose, as families and children received the vision care they needed to start the school year with confidence and clarity.

On August 12, our mobile team had the opportunity to screen 43 refugees at the LDS Humanitarian Center. EyeCare4Kids hosted those in need of additional vision care at the Midvale clinic on August 14 and August 21, providing them with eye exams and eyeglasses.

Our refugee partners are committed to serving those in need, while our local partners like Rocky Mountain University, Utah Valley Refugees, LDS Humanitarian Center, and Utah Refugee Connection are helping to build a healthier, more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to see a brighter future.

Many thanks to Intermountain Community Care Foundation and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation for their generous financial contributions to support these clinics.
