Joseph Carbone named President of Salt Lake City Lions Club

by | Jan 17, 2023 | News | 0 comments

In a recent ceremony at EyeCare4Kids, Joseph Carbone, founder of EyeCare4Kids, was installed as President of the Salt Lake City Lions Club. The Salt Lake City club is part of Lions International, which is the world’s largest service organization, and has been serving the Salt Lake City area since 1921. District Governor Carol Eisenberg represented Lions International during the ceremony.

Among the club’s key initiatives is assisting the visually impaired in the Salt Lake Valley. The organization provides examinations and eyeglasses to individuals, works with the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind to build barrier free sensory playgrounds for children, and partners with the 4th Street Clinic to provide a permanent vision clinic in the downtown area.

“As a long-standing member of Lions International, I am honored to lead this organization of local volunteers whose hearts are always focused on serving those in need within our community,” said Carbone. “Lions International is committed to the cause of preventing avoidable blindness and improving the quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired, a cause that is near and dear to me and the team at EyeCare4Kids. I know with more awareness and more helping hands, we can expand the number of people that we impact every day. I know we can make a big difference for our community.”

In addition to Carbone becoming president of the local club, several members of the EyeCare4Kids staff became official members of the Salt Lake City Lions Club, including Maggie Mitchell-Cline, managing director of EyeCare4Kids Utah, Melanie Robbins, community outreach coordinator, and Christie Allred, finance manager.
