The Lions Clubs of Nevada is a part of Lions Clubs International, a network of volunteers who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. The Lions Club is one of the oldest service-based clubs in the United States and has a particular focus on helping people and the community with vision-related problems.
The Lions SightFirst Foundation of Southern Nevada is dedicated to providing excellent vision care to economically disadvantaged people in our community. Its goal is to eliminate preventable blindness and visual impairment.
“EyeCare4Kids is proud to partner with The Lions Club to provide vision care to our Southern Nevada community,” said Stephanie Kirby, executive director of EyeCare4Kids Nevada. “With shared values and purpose, we will accomplish a lot together.”
As a result of a generous grant and professionals who volunteer their time and talents, individuals with a financial need who have been diagnosed with glaucoma or cataracts can receive surgery through the Lions SightFirst Foundation. To date, this foundation has provided life-changing surgeries to dozens of EyeCare4Kids patients.
In addition, during the holiday season of 2021, EyeCare4Kids was included as one of the charities to benefit from the Light the World Giving Machines through Latter-day Saint Charities. The Giving Machines invited people to support charities and nonprofit organizations through donations collected in vending machines in select cities across the country. As a result of the remarkable donations made to EyeCare4Kids from the Light the World campaign, eligible EyeCare4Kids’ patients can receive pterygium surgery while funds are available. The surgery is also possible because of the kindness of Lions Club members, specifically, Dr. Peter Debry.
Kirby added, “We thank our friends at the Lions Club as well as Latter-day Saints Charities for their commitment to our communities!”
