Since moving to Nevada in the 1960s Elaine P. Wynn has played an overwhelmingly pivotal role in the reinvention of gaming, establishing herself as a savvy business leader who has left an indelible mark on Las Vegas. Her contributions to the gaming and business world, however, are only overshadowed by her outstanding humanitarian work with, and for, children in poverty. She is the founding chairman of Communities In Schools (CIS) Nevada and currently serves as the Chairman of the CIS National Board.
Stephanie Kirby, executive director of EyeCare4Kids Nevada, has seen firsthand the impact that Elaine can have on children thanks to her support of EyeCare4Kids.
“We can never discuss EyeCare4Kids Nevada without including Elaine P. Wynn. Elaine and the Elaine P. Wynn & Family Foundation are solely responsible for funding the creation of the EyeCare4Kids Nevada Mobile Vision Clinic, a.k.a. SeeMore, and she continues to choose to include SeeMore in her annual giving. She believed in this small, grassroots expansion, and on behalf of the board of directors, staff and patients of EyeCare4Kids, we are forever grateful.”
In addition to children, Elaine’s philanthropic work includes the arts, University of Nevada Las Vegas, palliative and hospice care and sports, among many others. One of Elaine’s proudest achievements is the dedication of the Elaine Wynn Elementary School in Las Vegas.
Joseph Carbone, founder of EyeCare4Kids, added, “As a community and an organization, we thank Elaine Wynn for dedicating so much of her time, talent, compassion, knowledge and resources to Southern Nevada and to children in need. It is a true honor to call you our partner and, more importantly, our friend.”
