The Engelstad Foundation located in Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the most supportive and engaged foundations in the region. Created in 2002 by Ralph and Betty Engelstad, the foundation’s focus is on creating solutions in medical research, improving day-to-day living for people with disabilities and raising the possibilities for high-risk individuals.
The Engelstads moved to Nevada in 1962 from North Dakota, investing in land, and eventually building and operating the Imperial Palace on the Las Vegas Strip. They built a second location in Biloxi, Mississippi. As the Engelstads business and success grew, they began to recognize the growing needs of so many people in their communities, and their quiet, yet powerful, charitable giving began.
EyeCare4Kids Nevada is beyond grateful to benefit from the Englestad’s generosity since 2016. To date, we have received over $3.4 million in grants to assist us in our work to provide vision care, including screenings, exams and prescription eyeglasses, to children and families who are uninsured and lack the resources to obtain professional care.
Stephanie Kirby, executive director of EyeCare4Kids Nevada, said, “Our partnership with the Engelstads is so crucial to the services we provide, and we are incredibly proud to be a part of their tradition of putting community first.”
