Swimming is a summertime staple, but chlorine and other pool chemicals can irritate children’s eyes, causing redness, stinging, and discomfort.
Well‑fitting swim goggles create a protective barrier that keeps chlorine, debris, and bacteria away from the eye surface, making swim lessons and pool play far more comfortable.
Goggles also help children see clearly underwater, building confidence and safety skills as they learn to swim.
When choosing goggles, look for adjustable straps, soft silicone seals that fit snugly without being too tight, and shatterproof, anti‑fog lenses. For younger children (ages 2–7), consider swim masks with wider fields of vision and comfortable, leak‑proof designs.
Teach your child to press the goggles gently against their eyes to create suction before entering the water, and position the strap around the back of the head (not too low on the neck) for a secure fit.
After swimming, rinse goggles with fresh water to preserve the anti‑fog coating, and encourage your child to rinse their face and use preservative‑free artificial tears if their eyes feel irritated.
