Parent question: Why Is My Child Complaining of Eye Pain and Associated Headaches?

PARENT QUESTION: Signs Your Child Might Have Vision Problems (Even If You–And They–Don’t Know It Yet)

by | Sep 30, 2025 | Blog

Children often don’t realize that what they’re seeing is abnormal — for them it just is what it is.

That’s why parents need to watch for subtle signs of vision issues: frequent squinting, covering one eye, tilting the head, unwillingness to read, skipping lines, complaints of headaches, or avoiding close work.

Regular screenings and exams matter because early detection of issues such as refractive errors or binocular vision problems can make a big difference in outcomes.

At EyeCare4Kids, we encourage parents to schedule a comprehensive eye exam for infants and young children — even if the school‑screening is fine.

Remember: “eyesight” (clarity of vision) is different from “vision” (how the brain uses the eyes) and both matter.

With early action, children can get support before learning or behavior problems emerge.
