On March 1, 2025, EyeCare4Kids® participated in the Special Olympics Utah Health & Wellness Fair at Glendale Middle School in Salt Lake City. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offered free health services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), as well as their families and caregivers.
EyeCare4Kids® provided free vision and eye health screenings. Attendees who needed corrective lenses received free prescription glasses. The screenings were done by trained professionals experienced in working with individuals with IDD. The goal was to identify vision issues and provide solutions that could help improve daily life.
The fair also included other health screenings such as dental, audiology, podiatry, and physical therapy. Participants received socks, fluoride treatments, and fitness assessments depending on the screening area. After the screenings, everyone had the chance to collect small prizes like water bottles, stickers, and fidget toys.
The day began with a morning workout led by Special Olympics athletes and fitness instructors. The workout was open to all attendees and aimed to encourage physical activity.
EyeCare4Kids® joined the event to help make vision care more accessible to people who may not otherwise receive it. The organization focuses on serving children and families who are uninsured or underinsured, and participating in this fair helped extend that reach to the IDD (Intellectual and developmental disabilities) community.
The event also offered a free lunch and a healthcare-themed photo booth, giving participants time to relax and enjoy the day with friends and family.
